Solar Do Castelo opens museum exhibition Print E-mail
The Solar Do Castelo Hotel has opened a museum in the old water tank, which is thought to have belonged to the royal palace.

Solar Do Castelo was built inside the walls of São Jorge Castle, where the kitchens of the first royal palace are thought to have been located, and boasts memories covering more than eight centuries of Lisbon's history.

While it was being restored, countless medieval relics, including the water tank, were found and are thought to have belonged to the palace. The objects and artefacts found during archaeological excavations under IPPAR supervision have been preserved and some are now on display.

Many other items from different civilisations are now contributing to a new interpretation of the occupation of the city.

Solar Do Castelo belongs to the small Hoteis Heritage Lisboa chain. These discoveries have enriched it and filled it with history, providing guests with the opportunity for close contact with centuries of Lisbon's history.

Hoteis Heritage Lisboa has five hotels located in Lisbon's historical districts, where we come into immediate contact with the real city, from its heritage to its people - As Janelas Verdes, Heritage Av Liberdade Hotel, Hotel Britania, Hotel Lisboa Plaza and Solar Do Castelo.
