Paradores of Portugal - Pousadas de Portugal and Hoteis Heritage Lisboa are members of the Historic Hotels of Europe association in Portugal
Paradores of Portugal - Pousadas de Portugal and Heritage Hotels Lisbon are Portuguese members of the Historic Hotels of Europe association. Their membership of this association focuses on the objective of promoting the values of tradition, heritage and culture in Portugal, which Historic Hotels of Europe aims to preserve throughout Europe.
Paradores of Portugal - Pousadas de Portugal "were born" in 1942, as a result of the work of António Ferro. The hotel chain is a fundamental symbol of Portuguese tourism. The hotel chain has unique characteristics, since many of the hotels are sited in renovated castles, monasteries and convents, which were in an advanced stage of ruin prior to their restoration and conversion into a hotel. The hotels of the chain are sited at more than 40 destinations synonymous with tourism and leisure and of historic and cultural interest, reflecting the rich diversity and the best traditions of the surrounding regions.
Heritage hotels Lisbon was the fruit of an idea to promote hotels of charm that reflect the tradition and culture of the country and city.
The small hotels of the chain present an alternative to large luxury hotels, providing a friendlier and more welcoming environment. The hotels combine the traditions of the surrounding region with the requirements of modern living to create unique environments. The hotels' location in the historical centre of Lisbon facilitates the direct exploration of the most authentic charms that the city has to offer, from its monuments to the people.
The Historic Hotels of Europe association was founded in 1997 with the objective of promoting historical heritage and general awareness of the traditions and customs of each country, while encouraging, at the same time, development and continuity. The Historic Hotels of Europe association currently comprises 16 associations from 15 European countries: Germany, Austria, Benelux, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Ireland, Norway, Portugal, United Kingdom, Sweden and Switzerland.
Its network of hotels currently encompasses 1,000 properties, providing more than 24,000 rooms, making HHE one of the most effective marketing resources of its kind in Europe. Every property has its own distinctive style and character, providing guests with a unique experience as they enjoy the welcoming traditions of the country being visited.
