This distinction just goes to confirm the Portuguese group’s commitment to excellence of service at its hotels, which are there to offer a cosier, more personalised alternative to the large, luxury hotels.

Trivago was set up in 2003 and offers top-quality information on travel and holiday destinations. It also gives useful advice on geographical locations (beaches, cities, etc) and tourist attractions, among other things. The website’s database currently has more than 300,000 hotels and can be searched by destination or individual criteria from a list of more than 200, where users can find tips and guest reviews. These assessments are provided not only by direct Trivago users but also come from the five largest world hotel websites.
